What we cover

One agency for everything you own.

Personal and commercial lines across the Middle Peninsula. If you are not sure what you need, that is what the phone call is for.

On the water

Boat & yacht

Hull, liability and trailering — from a skiff on the creek to a cruiser on the Chesapeake.

Property

Home & condo

Homeowners, condo, renters and landlord cover, whether you own the house, rent it, or rent it out.

Auto

Car insurance

Personal auto, written through the carriers we represent.

Commercial

Small business

Cover for the shops, contractors and marine trades that keep the Peninsula working.

Liability

Umbrella

Extra liability that sits above your home and auto policies — the cheapest peace of mind we sell.

Specialty

Valuables & events

Jewelry and valuable items, plus wedding and event cover for the day it all has to go right.

Who we serve

New to the county, or here for the season.

Retiring to the river

Moving to Middlesex

People land here from Richmond, Northern Virginia and out of state entirely — for the water and the quiet. Your old policies do not simply follow you. Cover written for a suburb rarely fits a house on a tidal creek, and the auto rates you were quoted three states ago are not the ones you will pay here.

We rewrite the whole picture at once — house, cars, umbrella, the boat if there is one — so you end up with one agent and one renewal date instead of four.

Ask about flood early. It is the one thing a standard homeowners policy does not cover, and on this side of the county it is what people wish they had asked about sooner.

Seasonal sites

At the camp-resort

Bethpage Camp-Resort sits on three hundred acres of Rappahannock waterfront just outside town, open April through November. A good share of those sites hold the same families year after year.

A seasonal site asks questions a homeowners policy was never written to answer. What follows the trailer down the road, and what stops at the gate? What happens when the boat is in the water, the golf cart is in the lane, and the truck is towing something that belongs to neither?

Bring us the list. We will tell you plainly where the gaps are, and whether they are worth closing.

The town

Eighty years on a street that predates the county seat.

Urbanna has been a working port for three and a half centuries. Our office has been on Prince George Street for the last eighty years of it.

1680

A port is designated

Virginia's Colonial Assembly names Urbanna one of the original tobacco ports, alongside Yorktown, Jamestown and Norfolk.

1705

The town is chartered

Officially created and named Urbanna — "City of Anne" — for the reigning Queen Anne. Travelers paid five pounds of tobacco, or sixpence, for a night at the tavern on Prince George Street.

1849

The court moves on

Justices decline to keep repairing the 1745 courthouse and move the county seat to Saluda, where it remains. Urbanna keeps the harbour.

1946

Folliard & Hall opens

The agency begins writing insurance from Prince George Street, where it still is — now led by Eugene and Martin Folliard.

Why independent

We don't work for an insurance company.

A captive agent can sell you exactly one company's policy — the one whose name is on the door. We're independent, so we place your cover with whichever of our carriers fits you best, including Travelers.

It matters most at renewal. When your premium moves, we can take your cover back out to the market instead of asking you to accept the increase. You get one agent and one phone number; we handle the rest.
